picDetails have become known about Neil Gaiman's episode of Doctor Who for this upcoming season via SFX Magazine.

Gaiman will be writing the fourth episode called "The Doctor's Wife," with Richard Clark on as director. Gaiman is a notable English author and writer of novels and comic books including Sandman and Coraline. He has also previously wrote episodes for Babylon 5 and the film Stardust was adapted from the novel of the same name.

This episode sees Suranne Jones (Coronation Street) guest star, with Gaiman describing her character as “someone who is beautiful, and who bites, and who might just turn out to be an old acquaintance with a new face…”, adding, “it starts in void-space, with something – or someone – we have not seen since [1969 Patrick Troughton story] ‘The War Games’, and a knock on the TARDIS door…” according to the Doctor Who Magazine.

Stephen Moffat describes the episode as “a beautiful poem of an episode,” and regarding Suranne Jones says she, “will change the way you see Doctor Who forever forever – and that’s a hand-on-heart promise.”

Doctor Who Season Six returns to both the UK and US on April 23rd, 2011 on the BBC.
