Ernie Hudson, known for Ghostbusters, lets it be known in an interview that he is up for a role in The Flash TV series set for the CW.

A pair of character descriptions from a casting call listed Iris West and Detective West.

It's possible Ernie Hudson could be up for the role as the latter.

"There's a spinoff of Arrow called Flash. I'm meeting the creators next week," Hudson told Ghostbusters News. "So I kind of have to prepare for that."

Hudson continues giving some hints as to the the storyline surrounding the character.

"His [The Flash's] adopted dad or something. His dad has a problem and I don't want to give that story away. I'll tell you more about it if I get the job," Hudson said.

Here is the previously released description for Detective West, which seems to fit the bill:

DETECTIVE WEST - Late 40s to Early 50s - African American -Detective West is an honest, blue-collar cop who's seen it all. A soulful, funny caring father to Iris, and a surrogate father to Barry, West came up through the foster system himself. He took in Barry after his mother's murder and his father's imprisonment. He believes in Barry and supports Barry's efforts to prove his father's innocence.

Grant Gustin recently appeared on two episodes of Arrow as Barry Allen. The mid-season finale saw Barry Allen gain the powers of The Flash, with Gustin going on to star in the TV series which has a yet-to-be announced premiere.
