Following Sunday's season 4 record-breaking premiere, HBO has announced that it has renewed Game of Thrones for two more seasons.

The premiere for Season 4 was up 52% with 6.6 million viewers compared to last season's 4.4 million.

This also marks HBO's second most-watched episode of any series since the series finale of The Sopranos back in 2007 that had 11.9 million.

Series creator George R.R. Martin is penning the sixth novel, which should leave enough room for the series as currently the fourth season is taking place in the third novel.

Game Of Thrones is a phenomenon like no other,” said HBO programming president Michael Lombardo, reports Deadline. “(Creators) David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, along with their talented collaborators, continue to surpass themselves, and we look forward to more of their dazzling storytelling.”

"Game Of Thrones" airs Sundays at 9pm ET on HBO.
