Jaren Brandt Bartlett is the Smallville Blue Beetle

EW.com confirms that Nickelodeon actor, Jaren Brandt Bartlett, will be playing the Blue Beetle, Jamie Reyes, in the 17th episode of Smallville titled "Booster."

The Blue Beetle is powered by a mystic scarab that gives him an armored body suit. The scarab fuses to the spine and in times of danger is activated. As the danger passes the scarab withdraws the armor and recedes back into the spine. A number of devices and weapons can be formed including an energy cannon, a sword and shield, a grappling hook, a communications type-satellite and long foot blades.  The suit can even produce a set of wings for flight, which also act as shields.

The scarab also gives "extra-dimensional" sight enabling the user to gather information and "see" certain objects. Among the scarab's more unique qualities is its reluctance to hurt creatures of nature.
