picEarlier, we reported that Walter Koenig (Chekov in Star Trek) stated a return of Babylon 5 might be a strong possibility, with the actor stating, "[J Michael Straczynski] told me that he is in negotiations to re-acquire the rights to Babylon 5 and it looks pretty good."

Now, word has come from the show's creator, J. Michael Straczynski, that this is not the case.

“Walter misspoke,” Straczynski told Spinoff Online. “I am not in negotiations with WB to develop more Babylon 5.”

Hmmm...Any chance JMS is in negotiations with someone other than WB?

Koenig played Alfred Bester in Babylon 5, which went on for 5 seasons, had numerous tv movies and spin-offs.

Here's the full quote from Koenig:

"[J Michael Straczynski] told me that he is in negotiations to re-acquire the rights to Babylon 5 and it looks pretty good. Now what that portends I am not entirely sure. It could be a new series or it could be a feature film, but he was quite animated about it. He seemed very excited and Warner Brothers is dealing with him in good faith. So you might see another Babylon 5 in the not too distant future."
