How is this for a pairing?

Michael Bay and James Wong are teaming for a new supernatural series on A&E, titled "Occult."

The series is about an FBI agent who returns from a leave of absence after having gone off the deep end following his wife's disappearance. The agent gets paired up with another agent who has issues of her own as well and also specializes in the occult, and together they are tasked with investigating occult crimes in a newly formed occult task force.

Of course, Michael Bay is known for the blockbuster Transformers franchise, with James Wong behind hit shows such as X-Files, Millennium, The Lone Gunmen, The Others, The Event, FX's American Horror story and the movie, Final Destination 3.

According to Deadline, A&E has given the pilot a cast-contigent order, with Michael Bay producing and James Wong on as writer. Both Bay and Wong are listed as executive producers as well.

Obviously from the description, Occult has a huge X-Files vibe to it, but with a supernatural spin. More and more supernatural-based series are appearing on television such as SyFy's numerous shows reflecting their popularity amongst audiences. In addition to Occult, A&E also has a couple more supernatural series in development with the new prequel Psycho series and Those Who Kill, a crime drama about a forensic investigator with an uncanny understanding of serial killers.

So from the sounds of it, instead of investigating aliens, abductions and monsters, this team will be investigating things that go bump in the night such as poltergeists, demons and perhaps exorcisms. And who knows, there might even be some sort of underlying theme in that the occult happenings are occurring more frequently — for some as of yet unknown reason.

Could be really cool.
