It seems the Oscars had enough time to dish out pizza and selfies, but no time for Batkid and Andrew Garfield.
Sunday saw the the Oscars feature a "hero" theme with Chris Evans, Jim Carrey and Sally Field introducing various segments,
Reportedly, Chris Evans filled in for Andrew Garfield who was said to be a no-show.
However, there looks to be more to the story.
Batkid, the five-year-old that had Leukemia, and who the Make A Wish Foundation transformed San Francisco into Gotham City, was invited to the Oscars and participated in a rehearsal on Saturday with Andrew Garfield.
For some reason the Oscars scrapped it.
"I don’t know if they ran out of time, or if there was something about the segment they didn’t like,” Natalie Scott, Miles' mother, told IBT Times. “It got pulled so quickly that we didn’t have a lot of insight into what was going on.”
Batkid was all set to appear and even had his own Tuxedo, which added to the disappointment.
"Well, kind of... We had gone all the way down there, and he went through the rehearsal and he had a fancy tux and was all ready for it," she said.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, insiders stated the segment was cut because it wasn't coming together.
"Basically, because of the fluid nature of live TV production, ultimately the segment didn't work," an Academy spokesperson said.
