Chris Jericho, former WWE champ, will host the show that features twelve teams competing for a $100,000 prize.

Each team will get its own 1000 lb. battle robot, which has been designed by Mark Setrakian, known for his work on animatronics and control technology on films such as Men In BlackThe Grinch and Hellboy.

The series has already finished filming as SyFy was keeping it under a tight leash and makes its debut February 26, 2013.

While Robot Combat League is not directly related to Real Steel, it still features two robots in a boxing ring smashing the transistors out of each other with each getting a specific nick-name as well, including Steampunk” and “Sgt. Smash.”

The 12 teams each consist of a fighter (robo-jockey) and a robotics engineer (robo-tech), with the fighters from various backgrounds, such as a race car driver, an Olympic athlete, a National Guard helicopter pilot, and the daughter of Star Wars creator George Lucas,  MMA fighter Amanda Lucas.

In addition to Chris Jericho's hosting chores, the first WWE undisputed champion will be calling the play-by play for the fights.

"It has always been our desire — and it’s really come around perennially — to update and do Battle Bots for the new century,” says Syfy president Mark Stern to EW. “Can we do Real Steel? Are we at a place where you can do real bipedal robots? Every time we tried to to do it [the project] was stymied by the technology."
