It seems Frank Darabont didn't walk away from The Walking Dead afterall, but was forced to by AMC.

To add to that, when the cast and crew were told of Darabont's depature - three days after AMC had him at the Comic Con to promote the show - they were none to happy.

According to THR, AMC's reaction was to "terrorize" the cast and crew into silence so they would not speak on Darabont's behalf.

This isn't the first time AMC has "gotten into it" with one of their programs. Sony shopped around Breaking Bad after learning of AMC cutting the show's budget -- while giving Man Men creator and executive producer Matt Weiner a raise to the amount of $10 million.

The Walking Dead has had to cut back, as well, which I am assuming would be in the special effects department. The number THR is using is $650,000 per episode. Previous amounts were stated to be around the $250,000 mark

AMC has replaced Darabont with Glen Mazzara -- who Darabont brought onboard. THR notes that many feel it was Darabont being an integral part of the process that led to The Walking Dead's success.

"Frank's fingerprints are all over every single aspect of the show," a source told THR. "I heard a Teamster saying, 'How are we going to do this without Frank?'"
